Leigh Culver
From June through October, I paint in plein air in Maine's Acadia National Park. Recently, I’ve focused on the otherworldly beauty of natural rock gatherings at ocean’s edge in changing light, tide, and weather. From November through May, I work in my DC studio on larger works focused on fading botanicals. With these varied rocks and botanicals, I marry close observation with wet-into-wet dissolutions of form to capture the way they speak to me of endurance, time and change inherent in our world.
