Angela Lacy
Growing up in Tokyo I was fascinated by the watercolor and oil paintings of many artists, both contemporary and historic, as well as Master woodblock printmakers. In spite of keen interest in art I did not pursue creating art whole-heartedly myself until retirement.
My subjects are found in ordinary surroundings, street scenes, city scapes and people going about their daily routines. My scenes are representational and are influenced by the woodblock prints I admired as a child. Watercolor lends to unpredictability in the way the pigments flow and mix on paper. This can result in something exciting and allows me to react spontaneously.
My hope is the joy I experience while creating my paintings will reach viewers' hearts. I am thankful to our Creator for the opportunity to experience such joy.
