Marta Legeckis

Marta lives a double life – calligrapher by day and watercolorist by day or night! Originally, her grand plan was to incorporate the watercolor with the calligraphic work.

But Marta was seduced by the mysteries of color and its various applications. Marta loves to use a limited palette in most of her work. Her subject matter includes landscapes and florals but especially historical architecture such as crumbling castles and cathedrals. The calligraphy still comes through in the watercolor painting for example when the arches of a cloister echo the arches of the letter ”n”, and swaying branches could be calligraphic flourishes. Marta hopes that when viewing her work, individual stories are conjured up by her images.
