Deidre has always loved to travel and was inspired to take up art following a trip to Italy with a group of artists in 2014. She subsequently started watercolor lessons at the Workhouse Arts Center in 2015. She has exhibited her art both locally and throughout the state of Virginia and Maryland, and has won numerous awards. She is an artist member of Art a la Carte Gallery in Occoquan, VA and is a member of the Springfield Art Guild, Potomac Valley Watercolorists, Virginia Watercolor Society and Baltimore Watercolor Society.
Artist statement:
“I believe that getting outside is good for the soul and through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in. My subject matter is nature, whether it be a traditional landscape or an animal or a flower painting. Living with paintings that pay tribute to the natural world reminds us to slow down and reconnect with nature and our world.”
