Featured Artist of the Month

Watercolors have an immediacy and translucency that is unlike any other medium. After taking my first watercolor class many years ago, I was hooked! I find the medium diverse, exciting, and very challenging. I will never master it, but am having a wonderful time trying!

My recent work is a series of somewhat abstract scenes of brightly colored interstate highways. It is unlike anything I have done before and I’m quite enjoying it. I never know how each piece will turn out before I start, which is, after all, how most of us start our paintings! I have an idea, but often the painting becomes its own entity and it has its own ideas of who or what it should be or say!! I love this part of the creative process!
